BITS MAY JUNE 24/24 *We are still a few weeks away from the "Meat" of our season, Drag Week, but the Wally's are done and waiting for those that are brave enough to compete for them and the HUGE Dollars that go with them. Canada's Richest Drag Race, Canada's Oldest Drag Race just keeps getting better and this year is a perfect example of just that. Six changes to win $10,000. or more in Super Pro, $5000. in Semi Pro and $5000. in Jrs. don't get much better than that, if it does please point it out. *Once again we make everyone aware of some rules heading into the long weekend and the Super Tour Race. Gates will be open on Thursday until 2 p.m. and will reopen at 9 that evening. Kids are not allowed to drive any motorized vehicles other than Jr. Dragsters. Everyone is parked even those that have personal parking spots, please bring boards to go under any jack stands you are lowering. And only race cars and tow vehicles are allowed in the pit area, we expect a big turnout so please help make this weekend a fun one. And last but not least remember the Jr. Dragster Fund Raiser and Carnival on Saturday evening prior to the Anger Fun Party. It is going to be a FUN FILLED weekend please adhere to the rules. *Congratulations to some of Luskville Dragway racers who traveled to other tracks on off weekend for Luskville Dragway. Annabelle Soucy, Julia Malcolm and Kate Adams showed once again why I brag about Luskville Dragway have some of the Best Bracket Racers in Canada. The Girls all did well with KATE taking the Jr. Dragster Win. Congrats to Brock Godmaire for his Super Pro win at Kirkland Lake, Brock will be the first one to tell you he calls Luskville Dragway his home track. |

SUPER TOUR
RACE'S #2 and 3 COMING UP THIS WEEKEND AT LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY: JUNE 24/24 The Canadian Bracket Super Tour will touch down at Luskville Dragway this weekend, showcasing some of the very best NHRA Drag Racing in the land. Yes I firmly believe that our Super Tour and in particular the drivers who compete at Luskville Dragway are some of he very best Bracket Racers in Canada. It has shown itself all the time when these drivers travel to out of town races such as two weeks ago when drivers from the Tour where dominate at some big dollar events in the USA, it has shown itself at other racetracks in Canada when our guys and gals travel to events being held at those tracks. The event will take place over the Canada Day Weekend and will feature close to 100 Super Pro and 80 Semi Pro cars from all over Ontario and Quebec, including a large group from Northern Ontario. Phil Harvey of Montreal will head into the weekend in 1st place in Super Pro with Martin Brideau of Quebec City leading the Semi Pro pack, the Jr. Dragster class see's Emy Roberge with an early lead. The points races will take place on Saturday and Sunday June 29-30 with a Gamblers Race taking place on Friday Evening. |

BITS MAY JUNE 17/24 *Some very important information for the Super Tour Race on the long weekend at the end of the month. Do too a fact that we HAVE to be at a family function on Thursday Evening, Gates will only be open on Thursday until 3 pm. We will be returning the drag strip later that night so if your plan on arriving after 3 make sure its not until at least 9 p.m. Thursday Night. Gates will be open 8 am on Friday Morning, this does not affect those with a Key and a personal parking spot. EVERYONE that does not have their own parking spot MUST be parked by management. It is also important that ONLY tow vehicle and race car are in the pit area, NO extra vehicles. Kids are not allowed on any motorized vehicle other than Jr, Dragsters, NO GOLF CARTS, NO MOTORIZED ANYTHING. One other item that is a must is if you are lowering any type of jacks make sure there are boards under them please. *Congratulations to Super Tour Regular Andrew Stirk and his big win at Empire Dragway in upstate New York this past Friday. Andrew wheeled the DSE corvette roadster to the winners circle and picked up a cool $5000. to go along with the big check. Andrew is a veteran racer and a threat when and where ever he races, and its just a matter of time before he makes it too the winner circle at one of the 11 super tour races he runs in every summer. Other super tour racers did well this past weekend as well as Adam Bitzanis was the runner up at Empire on Saturday and Ted Barnes won the high roller race at the same event, Well Done to all. |

SPEEDY AUTO SERVICE
WEEKEND RESULTS IN THE BOOKS: JUNE 17/24 In a spring where the weather has been the biggest topic of conversation, it was nice to see the sun shinning down on Luskville Dragway as we headed into the Speedy Auto Service Spring Spectacular presented by the Carl Soucy owned company ABATTAGE & EMONDAGE. Yes the weather man has not been our friend this summer so far, as we have already had our average of rainouts for an entire season already (6). So lets hope the weather gods will smile on us for the rest of the summer, lets hope. So with clear blue skies and plenty of sunshine the race cars started rolling in on Friday, and one of those was the brand new Buick super pro car of Darren Frasso, this is a beauty just like Darren's other car.
So Sunday was another stellar day weather wise and with a few more cars coming through the gates it was also a better car count for Sunday's Speedy Auto Service Spring Spectacular. The Jr. Dragster program would boil down to Kate Adams and Julia Malcolm with both trying to win one for thier dads. Kate would seal the deal on the win and Julia would take runner up and the Brian Ackers Quick Draw Award for the best reaction time in the first round. Bruce Evans would double up on the Nostalgia win, and Gabe Jensen would beat up on Ryan Clarmo for the Semi Pro title. Super Pro was the talk of the town as Mike Chenier would once again take his corvette to the winners circle this time over Derek Malcolm who would have to settle for the runner up spot this time around. With well over 30 Super Pro Cars on the property for Sunday it was a great race. |

BITS MAY JUNE 10/24 *We have had absolutely NO INTEREST in a NHRA SFI inspection by anyone so unless I hear other wise we will cancel what was suppose to happen on the July Super Tour Weekend at Luskville. *Mother Nature has been the biggest story this season so far and she continued here terror spring this past Saturday as we once again had to cancel a Saturday Street Day. That makes 6 out of the 8 weekends we have been open have gone down to rain and cancellation. Yeah there was a few sunny breaks but the track was drenched from the day before and rain fell during the day and evening as well. We have to make cancellation decisions in the morning in order to cancel insurance, staff, medics and such so in no way is it an easy decision, if we are not open there is NO INCOME, so the last thing we want to do is close. Napierville Dragway did manage to get their Saturday Super Pro action in and Pam Rennie got back on the winning track taking the runner up spot to Fred Anger, Congrats both. |

OGILVIE,
BALLANTYNE, AND ANGERS LEAD THE POINTS AFTER FIRST WEEKEND: JUNE 10/24 Winning at Luskville Dragway is no easy task, and when you run THE fastest car at the track on a regular basis it makes doing that even a harder task. So seeing Mike Ogilvie's name at the head of the pack in Super Pro makes one feel pretty good for a number of reasons. There is no bigger supporter than Mike and the family as well as Ogilvie Auto and Fleet. And when the fastest car goes to the finals and the semi finals on opening weekend it says something for the track and the track prep that Derek and Troy take care of. Yes Mike powered the big black Kendall Car to the runner up spot against Phil Harvey on the Saturday of opening weekend and then make his way to the semi finalists spot on Sunday earning him enough points to take the lead. In Semi Pro veteran and many time Track Champion Steve Ballantyne shot a bullet out to everyone that he means to repeat in 2024, and he takes an early season points lead. Haley Anger who had a great weekend takes the early lead in the Speedy Auto Service Jr. Dragster Championship, closely followed by 2023 Track Champion Julie Malcolm in Second place. Yes this is very early but excites those that did well, and pressure's everyone else to pick up their game. See you this weekend for the second weekend of points racing, as we present the Speedy Auto Service Spring Spectacular. |

PIT
BITS MAY JUNE 3/24 *Please note this announcement for the Super Tour Race at the end of the Month, Thursday access will be limited to those that have personal parking spots and have made arrangements with management. The gates will only be open until 2 p.m. on Thursday for parking. *So everyone pretty much knows my unhappiness with what has gone on with the NHRA and this new so called Canadian Division. Well now there is a WHOLE lot of east coast super gas racers upset as well. Its a long story but the east coast has ran their own super gas program and done quite well with it, in fact both of my 63 Corvette Roadsters have homes in the east where they run in super gas. Now the National Opens want to make a big change to how it is run and its not going over well with the racers down there. A sanction body is suppose to do things that are good for racers and the tracks not just what one person things is good for our sport. I have never been so upset with what is happening with our sanctioning body, to the point where after 43 years of NHRA I am actually considering leaving them. Side note the first National Open attracted 4 super gas and super comp cars??? which where bracket racers who where convinced go run cause there was a WALLY. *Another story this week and another gripe, with wall to wall sunshine I think we all expected to see a large turnout of street cars for the cruise night this past Saturday Night, but that was not the case. It was perfect weather and it was not a good turnout, making one wonder is the economy going to have that huge an impact on us this summer. Yes over the years we get a bad cruise night, but this is early spring and was really the first and only good weather for a cruise night that we have had, and the support was not there. All i can say is WE NEED your support. *Derek and Troy finally got to try out the new scraper, and again can not thank Dave Rennie who fined tuned it for hours before it was tested. And to say it works would be putting it mildly, now they will fight to see who scrapes, LOL. If anyone knows Dave Rennie you understand he is perfectionist, but also very much a McIver and that was what it took to turn this equipment into a a "Machine" and he did. The equipment we bought which was suppose to bolt right on, was anything but that, trust me. |

2ND ANNUAL
WAYNE YOUNG MEMORIAL, CAR SHOW & STREET DRAGS A HUGE SUCCESS: JUNE 3/24 With a turnout that surpassed last years 1st annual Wayne Young Memorial Car Show and Street Drags, it is easy to see just how big an impact Wayne had on MANY car enthusiasts in this area. Wayne was a mainstay of support for Luskville Dragway, Capital City Speedway, numerous car shows as well as many race cars carried his logo on them. Yes it is easy to say that NO ONE had as much impact on the local car scene than Wayne. This is even more apparent when you see the younger kids supporting this event, many who never met Wayne but have heard the history of this man in this area. For me, Young's Speed Shop was the first store I spent any money at when I came to Ottawa at the age of 16, I was a car nut and Wayne was a ambassador for anything car oriented. I spend many an hour (or 2) for the next 5 decades shooting the breeze with Wayne and for those times I will be forever grateful. So when we had the chance to keep his name bigger than ever with last years car show, it was only a natural to keep it going in 2024. Thanks to the Support of Larry Way, Stinson & Son's, Ogilvie Auto & Fleet, Derand Motorsports and many others we are proud to say that the 2nd annual was MUCH BIGGER than the 1st one, and I mean MUCH BIGGER. So plans underway for 2025 and the addition of a flea market for those that have stuff to sell to those that don't. Thank you to Larry Way, Derand Motorsports, Stinson and sons and all those that made it happen. |

CARL SOUCY'S ABATTAGE & EMONDAGE ADDS TO
SPEEDY AUTO WEEKEND: JUNE 3/24 Carl Soucy came on the scene at Luskville Dragway over 7 years ago, coming from the Dirt Track Stock Car world everyone was well aware that Carl New Racing. It didn't take long for that to show through loud and clear after he became very, very competitive in an older style dragster. It was said many times over the PA System when Carl would come to the line, that don't take this guy for granted, and if he ever gets a state of the art race car look out. Well he did buy a top name modern day Diamond fully suspended dragster, and it was not long before Carl was in the Money rounds most of the time. The Soucy Family have pretty much made Luskville Home and it includes Carl's Daughter Annabelle who is racing in the Jr. Dragster Class in a brand new beautiful card. It should be also pointed out that when it came time for the rebuilt of Luskville Dragway Carl was instrumental in the work that went on with the tearing out of the old track, the grading and prepping of the new track. So yes Carl has done his part in helping Luskville Dragway and this year that support continues as Soucy's company will present the Speedy Auto Service SFI Weekend June 15/16 2024. |
