PIT BITS MAY JULY 13/26 *Once again we write a story we wish we did not have to do, and we have had to do it way to often the last little while. Another Luskville Dragway Drag Racer has passed away, and passed away way to soon. Tim Kavanagh a former drag racer and track points champion passed away do to complications with cancer. Tim led a colorful and full life. An avid drag racer for over 50 years, he spent most of his time racing at Luskville Dragway, where he was crowned the 1998 Super Pro Points Champion. Tim and his brother Joe Kavanagh where regulars at the track and where always in a ford which they lived by for years. Tim and his wife Lyn where always part of everything that went on at the track, and where just a joy to have around. REST IN PEACE my Friend. This passing follows on the heals of Dick Stanton and Mike Code and its heart breaking to see so many of the former racers head to that drag strip in the sky. Thanks to Mike Lacelle who dug up the only pic we could find of Tim on the line at Luskville Dragway, with all the digital stuff these days sometimes hard to find pics from the past.  *What a Saturday it was at Luskville Dragway for the Kanata Wheels Street Car Challenge, and Tariq and the boys from Kanata Wheels packed the house and gave us one of the biggest street car shows in a long while. Congrats to the winners and lets hope we can keep it going, make sure you stay tuned for announcements surrounding Mayhem in the Moutains coming Sept 12. The day was filled with very fast street cars including everything from corvettes, to Ferrari's, BMW, Mercedes, you name it, it was there. Its been a while since we  have had line ups down Tremblay Road to get in but this past Saturday we did. Nic Poirier was also out with his super charge drag and drive Camaro make some test hits which just added to the excitement of the day. And yes the weather could not have been any better as sunshine and warm weather filled the day, and as the evening moved in it was just pictured perfect.
MORCEAUX DE FOSSE JULY 13/26 Une fois de plus, nous écrivons une histoire que nous aurions préféré ne pas avoir à écrire, et nous avons dû le faire bien trop souvent ces derniers temps. Un autre pilote de dragster du Luskville Dragway nous a quittés, bien trop tôt. Tim Kavanagh, ancien pilote et champion de la piste, est décédé des suites d'un cancer. Tim a mené une vie riche et intense. Passionné de dragster depuis plus de 50 ans, il a passé la majeure partie de son temps à courir au Luskville Dragway, où il a été sacré champion Super Pro en 1998. Tim et son frère Joe Kavanagh étaient des habitués de la piste et se déplaçaient toujours dans leur Ford, leur voiture de tous les jours. Tim et sa femme Lyn étaient toujours présents et leur présence était un vrai bonheur. Repose en paix, mon ami. Ce décès fait suite à ceux de Dick Stanton et Mike Code, et c'est déchirant de voir tant d'anciens pilotes rejoindre les étoiles. Merci à Mike Lacelle qui a déniché la seule photo que nous avons pu trouver de Tim sur la ligne de départ à Luskville Dragway ; avec tout le matériel numérique d'aujourd'hui, il est parfois difficile de retrouver des photos du passé. *Quel samedi mémorable au Luskville Dragway pour le Kanata Wheels Street Car Challenge ! Tariq et son équipe de Kanata Wheels ont fait salle comble et nous ont offert l'un des plus grands rassemblements de voitures de rue depuis longtemps. Félicitations aux gagnants et espérons que l'événement continue sur sa lancée. Restez à l'écoute pour les annonces concernant Mayhem in the Mountains, qui aura lieu le 12 septembre. La journée a été marquée par la présence de voitures de rue ultra-rapides, des Corvettes aux Ferrari, en passant par les BMW, les Mercedes, et bien d'autres. Cela faisait longtemps que nous n'avions pas vu une telle file d'attente sur Tremblay Road pour accéder à l'événement, mais samedi dernier, c'était le cas. Nic Poirier était également présent avec sa Camaro suralimentée, prête pour le drag et la conduite, et a effectué quelques essais, ce qui a contribué à l'excitation générale. Et bien sûr, la météo était tout simplement parfaite : soleil et chaleur ont régné toute la journée, et le soir venu, le tableau était idyllique.
45th. ANNUAL BRACKET BONANZA "DRAG WEEK" IT ALL STARTS JULY 25/26: JULY 13/26 This years Bonanza will be like no other, as we move back to drag week after a one year off, if was decided that Drag Week was a good thing for Luskville Dragway. A race that got its start back in 1981, originally as a one day event paying $1000. it is now today the premier big dollar bracket race in this country. That type of money ($1000.) in the early eighties attracted racers from far and near, and so began the history of Canada's oldest and richest drag race. As we head into the 2026  version the race will once again start the weekend prior, with the Dave Rennie Autocare Twin $5000. July 25-26 and will then entice race teams  to take a week holidays and  just stay over until the Bonanza Weekend. Things that have been planned will go on all week leading up to the huge payouts capping with a $10,000. to win Saturday. Following the first weekend race teams will have Mountain hikes to the Luskville Falls, Go-Cart Challenge, Golf Tournament, Annual Poker Tournament, Thursday will kick things off with a full regular program and then a special 8 car invitational Thursday night for Super, Semi and Jrs. Friday will see a full points race for including a separate race for the sleds and bikes. The famous Golf Cart Race goes Friday Night along with the Anger Fun Party. Saturday is the big one with Super Pro running for $10,000. to win, Semi Pro $5000. to Win, Sleds and Bikes $1500. to win and Jrs $500 to win. Saturdays race will be followed by the traditional Steak Bar-B-Q, and Live Music with Highway Sunrise one of Canada's top party bands. We do it all over again on Sunday with the Jrs running for the largest purse of the summer thanks to some great sponsors like Sydenham Landscaping and Belanger Enterprises who has made it possible to pay the winner of Jrs $1000. Arrangements are also being made for the dumping of motorhomes on site which would be a important part of race teams being comfortable staying over.
45e édition du BRACKET BONANZA « DRAG WEEK » : tout commence les 25 et 26 juillet  Cette année, le Bonanza sera unique en son genre, car nous renouons avec la Drag Week après une année d'absence. Il a été décidé que ce retour serait bénéfique pour le Luskville Dragway. Cette course, qui a vu le jour en 1981, était à l'origine un événement d'une journée doté d'une prime de 1 000 $. Elle est aujourd'hui la course de dragsters la plus prestigieuse du pays. Ce montant (1 000 $) au début des années 80 attirait des pilotes de partout, et c'est ainsi que commença l'histoire de la plus ancienne et la plus riche course de dragsters du Canada. Pour l'édition 2026, la course débutera à nouveau le week-end précédent, avec le Dave Rennie Autocare Twin de 5 000 $ (25-26 juillet), et incitera les équipes à prendre une semaine de vacances et à rester jusqu'au week-end du Bonanza. Les activités prévues se dérouleront tout au long de la semaine précédant les importantes remises de prix, avec un prix de 10 000 $ à la clé samedi. Après les courses du premier week-end, les équipes participeront à des randonnées en montagne jusqu'aux chutes de Luskville, au défi de karting, au tournoi de golf et au tournoi de poker annuel. Le jeudi marquera le début des festivités avec un programme régulier complet, suivi d'une compétition spéciale sur invitation (8 voitures) jeudi soir pour les catégories Super, Semi et Juniors. Vendredi sera consacré à une course comptant pour le championnat, incluant une course distincte pour les motoneiges et les motos. La célèbre course de voiturettes de golf aura lieu vendredi soir, ainsi que la soirée « Anger Fun Party ». Samedi sera le grand jour : les Super Pro s'affronteront pour 10 000 $, les Semi Pro pour 5 000 $, les motoneiges et les motos pour 1 500 $ et les Juniors pour 500 $. La course du samedi sera suivie du traditionnel barbecue de steaks et d'un concert du groupe Highway Sunrise, l'un des meilleurs groupes festifs du Canada. On remet ça dimanche avec la course des Juniors, qui vise la plus grosse dotation de l'été grâce à de généreux sponsors comme Sydenham Landscaping et Belanger Enterprises, qui offrira 1 000 $ au vainqueur. Des dispositions sont également prises pour le déchargement des camping-cars sur place, ce qui facilitera grandement l'hébergement des équipes.
PIT BITS MAY JULY 6/26 *AS was announced on Facebook last week the Luskville Dragway Family and the Malcolm Family lost a great friend last week as Mike Code passed away from complications do to cancer. Mike was a big part in everything we did racing wise, and was with us on every adventure we undertook with racing, Luskville Dragway, the Airport Venues, Other tracks that we did races at and even the Stock Car Track we ran for 5 years. Mike was the face behind the bar b que and every Steak Bar-B-Q and every Bracket Bonanza. He was like a older brother to Angie, Derek and Troy and was someone you could trust with your kids, your wife and your bank account. We went on cruises together and Mike and Cathy would attend as many of our grandsons hockey games they could. Yes Mike was a special friend, I would trust him with my Kids, My Wife and my bank account, that type of person only comes around once in a life time. For those wishing to attend to pay their condolences, a gathering of remembrance and celebration will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn Ottawa Airport, 2400 Alert Road, Ottawa ON, on Sunday, July 19, 2026 (12:00 pm – 3:00 pm) with words of memory at 1:00 pm. There will never be another Mike, RIP. *With the heat wave hitting just at the right time, it was game on for the first Super Tour race of the year this past weekend. The turnout was very good and that made everyone involved smile, as the season had not been great so far with the weather man playing havoc with us most weekends. Including our National Open and Jet Car Show. But it was full steam ahead this weekend and the racing was as hot as the weather. The Jr. Dragster Program was once again a stellar one and two of those drivers walked off with a $50. dollar bill and the Brian Ackers Quick Draw Award. Saturday saw Katie Adams take home the money with the Sunday having Annabelle Soucy pocket the money and the award, Thanks Sydenham Landscaping.
MORCEAUX DE FOSSE JULY 06/26 *Comme annoncé sur Facebook la semaine dernière, la famille Luskville Dragway et la famille Malcolm ont perdu un grand ami, Mike Code, décédé des suites d'un cancer. Mike a joué un rôle essentiel dans tout ce que nous avons entrepris dans le monde de la course automobile et nous a accompagnés dans toutes nos aventures : Luskville Dragway, les circuits aéroportuaires, les autres pistes et même le circuit de stock-car où nous avons couru pendant 5 ans. Mike était l'âme du barbecue, du Steak Bar-B-Q et de chaque Bracket Bonanza. Il était comme un grand frère pour Angie, Derek et Troy, et on pouvait lui confier ses enfants, sa femme et son compte en banque en toute confiance. Nous avons fait des croisières ensemble et Mike et Cathy assistaient à autant de matchs de hockey de nos petits-fils que possible. Oui, Mike était un ami exceptionnel. Je lui confierais mes enfants, ma femme et mon compte en banque sans hésiter. On ne rencontre ce genre de personne qu'une fois dans sa vie. Une cérémonie en hommage à Mike aura lieu le 19 juillet au Hampton Inn. Il n'y aura jamais un autre Mike, repose en paix. *Avec la vague de chaleur arrivée à point nommé, la première course du Super Tour de l'année a pu commencer ce week-end. La participation était excellente, ce qui a fait plaisir à tous les participants, car la saison avait été jusqu'ici difficile, la météo nous ayant joué des tours presque tous les week-ends, y compris lors de notre National Open et de notre Jet Car Show. Mais ce week-end, tout a commencé et la course était aussi intense que la chaleur. Le programme Jr. Dragster a une fois de plus été un franc succès et deux pilotes sont repartis avec un billet de 50 dollars et le prix Brian Ackers Quick Draw. Samedi, Katie Adams] a remporté la victoire et dimanche, [Annabelle Soucy] a empoché l'argent et le prix, grâce à Belanger Enterprises. *
SUPER TOUR RESULTS FROM LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY : JULY 06/26 We all know that the weather man plays a big part in what we do with outdoor activities, like drag racing, and this past weekend we where blessed with some of the nicest weather we have had in a long time. And we kicked things off with a couple of big dollar winners as Sacha Leblanc took the Semi Pro Win over Russ Fraser. Super Pro would see Russ Adams and Frank Anger come to the line for all the marbles and Frank was better on the tree and took the win and took home the $2500 that went with it. Saturday dawned with more clear skies and a pack house of race cars, time trials went get underway right on time and with two shots each it took a while to get set up for the first round. And first round did come off right on time as once again the drivers did a masterful job of getting to the lanes and helping the staff look good LOL. Jr. Dragster boiled down to Katie Adams and Logan Anger with Logan taking the win and the big pay check. Semi Pro was once again was a barn burner with Eric Monagham taking the win over Ivan Grenier. Yes it was a all Quebec finals with Ivan from Rouyn and  Eric from Quebec City. Eric was on top of his game and was on the tree and took the stripe for the win. Super Pro is always the one that everyone waits for and this one was one of the best as Kyle Jessup was the big winner over Fred Anger in the final go round.  This was Kyle's 2nd big win of the summer and you could tell that it was a big one, and a very very popular one. Sunday saw the weather man continue to cooperate with us and the sun was shinning big time, with perfect air for the competitors a track that Derek had on kill the action was as hot as the weather. Jr. Dragster with a great field of cars was the first once again to produce a winner. Logan Anger and Cole Krottner would face off against each other with the two hockey players/Drag racers had done in the second round. This time around Cole did his job on the tree and took the win light and the $500 check that went with it. Semi Pro was once again a great field of cars with four mustangs and lone Camaro alive heading into the semi finals. Frank Mastro with the immaculate 68 Camaro would fight off the fords and take home his first Tour Win. The Super Pro finals was a family affair to say the least as Felix Ballabey would beat Ashley Ogilvie to move to the finals and Andre Ballabey would beat Dale Gauthier to advance to the finals. In the finals the younger Ballabey would show no mercy on Dad with a .000 light in the finals to secure the win. Great Day of racing track was incredible as Derek has it down to a science with his prepp and constant surveillance of the condititons.
RÉSULTATS DU SUPER TOUR DE LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY : 6 JUILLET 2026 Comme chacun sait, la météo influence grandement nos activités de plein air, comme les courses de dragsters. Le week-end dernier, nous avons eu la chance de profiter d'un temps magnifique, parmi les meilleurs que nous ayons connus depuis longtemps. Les festivités ont commencé en beauté avec la victoire de Sacha Leblanc en Semi-Pro face à Russ Fraser. En Super Pro, Russ Adams et Frank Anger se sont affrontés pour la victoire, et Frank, plus rapide au départ, a remporté le titre et les 2 500 $ qui l'accompagnaient. Samedi matin, le ciel était toujours dégagé et les voitures de course étaient nombreuses. Les essais chronométrés ont débuté à l'heure prévue, et avec deux tours chacun, la mise en place du premier tour a pris un certain temps. Le premier tour s'est déroulé comme prévu, et une fois de plus, les pilotes ont fait un travail remarquable pour se mettre en place et faire bonne figure au sein de l'équipe (rires). La course de Jr. Dragster s'est résumée à un duel entre Katie Adams et Logan Anger, ce dernier remportant la victoire et le gros lot. La course de Semi Pro a une fois de plus offert un spectacle époustouflant, avec la victoire d'Eric Monagham sur Ivan Grenier. Il s'agissait d'une finale 100% québécoise, avec Ivan de Rouyn et Eric de Québec. Eric était au sommet de sa forme, prenant un excellent départ et franchissant la ligne d'arrivée en vainqueur. La catégorie Super Pro est toujours la plus attendue, et celle-ci a été particulièrement palpitante, Kyle Jessup s'imposant face à Fred Anger en finale. C'était la deuxième grande victoire de Kyle cet été, et cela se voyait, elle était très attendue et a suscité un vif enthousiasme. Dimanche, la météo a été de notre côté : le soleil brillait de mille feux, offrant un air parfait aux concurrents. Sur une piste préparée avec soin par Derek, l'action était aussi intense que la chaleur. La catégorie Jr. Dragster, avec un plateau exceptionnel, a une fois de plus couronné un vainqueur. Logan Anger et Cole Krottner se sont affrontés, comme au deuxième tour. Cette fois, Cole a parfaitement géré son départ et a remporté la victoire, empochant ainsi le chèque de 500 $. La catégorie Semi Pro a également présenté un plateau relevé, avec quatre Mustangs et une seule Camaro encore en lice pour les demi-finales. Frank Mastro, au volant de son impeccable Camaro 68, a su se défaire des Ford et remporter sa première victoire sur le Tour. La finale Super Pro a été une affaire de famille : Felix Ballabey a battu Ashley Ogilvie pour accéder à la finale, et Andre Ballabey a vaincu Dale Gauthier pour se qualifier également. En finale, le jeune Ballabey n'a fait aucun cadeau à son père, signant un départ parfait (0,000) pour remporter la victoire. La journée de course sur la piste était incroyable, Derek maîtrisant parfaitement la situation grâce à une préparation minutieuse et une surveillance constante des conditions.
