Quick
Facts
Derek will be heading into his
15th. full season of Super Pro competition in NHRA Drag Racing. From
Rookie of the year in 2000, Derek went on to the runner up spot in the
Show Me the Money Tour in 2001. 2002 was a bit of a off season as Derek
switched from the Dragster to a real trick Advance Chassis Altered.
Competing against some of the best Bracket Racers in Canada however,
Derek was able to go to more finals than any other driver. 2003 saw
Derek go into his second year in the altered and that turned out to be
the best, as he went on to claim the Super Pro track Championship in
only his fourth season of racing. This championship had some special
meaning to it, as Derek became the youngest driver to ever do so in this
country. 2004 would once
again see Derek move to a new car, and something once again totally
different than the past, a Top Gun Quick Eight Door Car. With Pro MOD'S being the most popular car in North America these days, Derek had
made it clear he would some day like to drive one, So that season would
see that evolution begin as he would make his debut in a Top Sportsman type
of car. Life is also a little different these days, as after graduating
from Algonquin with a Marketing and Advertising Degree Derek has begun
work full time for Pitney-Bowes. Derek had also taken over a few extra
duties as far as running Luskville Dragway the family owned Drag strip
where he grew up. Update Sept 04: Derek's days behind the wheel of a
door car didn't last long as he found himself back behind the wheel of a
new undercover soft tail dragster by Sept of 2004. Derek will continue
to campaign the new digger in 2005 with hopes of a possible Top
Sportsman ride also, as team ADM Motorsports continues to add to the
stable. Update Dec 2006: Derek had what many would call a great 2006,
winning the Show Me the Money Tour Super Pro Championship, The $10,000
Bracket Bonanza and being voted driver of the year, this young man has
certainly set the bar high for the 2007 season. Well the 2007 season is
now behind us and Derek can claim two championships, the Luskville
Super Pro Series as well as the Quad Royal Series. Derek will enter 2008
with the same car that carried into the past two great seasons but a new
car was on the horizon. Well that
new car arrived mid season and helped Derek recover from what was turning
out to be not that good a year, going many rounds pushed Derek
to top five finishes in two of the three series. This was the first
season since the beginning though that Derek did not win a race. Look
for that to change in 2009. Well its been a while since we updated so
there is a lot, another new dragster has come and gone, a few more
championships, the opening of his own business, Malcolm Carpentry and
Construction, but more importantly a marriage and the addition of two
young girls too the family. Derek would win the 2012 Napa Auto Parts
Show Me the Money Tour for the second time, and then would sell the
dragster he did so in. A new car is in the horizon for Derek in 2013,
well that year saw Derek win the track championship, and then go on and
win both the Napa Tour Series and the Track Series in 2014. Derek has
continued his winning ways as we head into 2017 adding track
championship's to his title each year or the past 4. 2017 will see him
drive the teams new corvette roadster trying yet again to do it his way. |
