COVER
SHOT: JOHN SIMEONI OF SUDBURY HAS BEEN RUNNING THE AIRPORT
RACES SINCE THEIR INCEPTION |
BITS
FROM THE PITS: MAR 25/19 *As we all know by
now Mike Chenier has sold his wild looking and strong runni ng
Corvette to former super pro race Gary Smith. Mike who has always had two
entries for many years now is not about to stop that process, as he has made it
very clear he will be doubling the Undercover Dragster at all the races and
running two entries. And that will also be the case for the $Big Dollar Busters
Big Dog Shootout on August 2nd. Mike has made his mark on the local sport of
drag racing and has done so in a professional manner. There is no better
supporter of Luskville Dragway and the Tours than Mike and his team. Mike will
also be assisting Gary Smith in his transition back into the cockpit of a drag
car, as well as helping out new Super Pro Racer and good Friend of Mikes, Carl
Soucy. Carl will make is drag racing début this season and look for this to be a
smooth entree into the sport of drag racing.
*2019
Rookie
Semi
Pro Racer Howard Foley has been working non stop all winter getting his Mustang
ready for the up coming season. This picture shows that things are coming along
fine, but has Howard will tell you it was a lot more work than first thought.
The plans are to be ready for the Mid May opening weekend as long as things keep
going good, and there are no more hiccups, as anyone who has ever built one of
these no there is. Howard and his new entree is good sign for the upcoming
season in the Semi Pro class, lets hope all the other hopefuls are out as well.
*Drivers meeting just around the
corner and we want to remind everyone that you can reserve
your personal parking spot for 2019 at the drivers meeting with your membership.
We remind all that your spot must be "nicely" and clearly marked so everyone
knows it is your spot and is reserved. Drivers who have had spots in the
previous years will have first choice at the same spot for the new season, but
all must renew too secure their spot. Drivers meeting is April 6th at Busters
Bar and Grill.
*Napa Auto Parts and Super Tour
Points Champ, Brandon Barker will be heading back to the USA for another stab at
SFG big dollars in the next two weeks. They did not get much racing in on the
trip to Darlington as the weather man did not cooperate we track operators hope
it will. This time around a few more will be heading out with him as Lewis
Gagne has let us know he too is heading south. Brandon let me know before he
left that he will defend his title on the Canadian Bracket Super Tour, plus as
many Napa Tour races as he can that don't conflict with the SFG Series which he
is already pre entered to run in its entirety.
*Another
trip down south for Paolo Giust and another great showing against the best
Outlaw vs. The World cars in the "World".
Paolo
and the G-Force Race Cars team had Black Betty screaming from the moment they
unloaded her from the trailer, running a personal best on their first pass.
The
car stayed very consistent and bettered his best until the engine let go. A
thrash session like no other was done to put the new motor in and get one last
qualifier in and get er ready for Saturday Eliminations. First round was
against the very fast corvette of Alex Laughlin of Texas, Paolo hammered him on
the tree and took the win with a 3.68. Down to 8 cars and next would be Daniel
Pharris of Missouri, but near the top end as picture shows the second bullet
would let go bringing an end to Black Betty's weekend. The team had to be very
pleased with the performance so far, with numbers that many would have thought
where impossible to run coming out of "Black Betty", you guys make us all Proud.
*We
are very pleased to let everyone know that Caretaker Chris will be back in 2019
to be with us for our 50th anniversary. Chris does an amazing job of keeping
Luskville Looking good at all times, Chris is also a big part of the actual
running of the race during the weekend, and has been more than accommodating for
people wanting into the track through the week. In fact in some cases probably a
little too accommodating and fringing on his off work time. So this year we make
it very clear that anyone wanting access to the track when the track is closed
must first make arrangements with management and then with Chris. This is only a
matter of a few phone calls and don't think it will hurt what we have been able
to have at Luskville Dragway. |
GARY SM ITH
& DAVE RENNIE JUMP IN FOR BIG DOG DOOR CAR SIDE AUG 2/2019
As was reported earlier this off season, Former Super Pro
Racer Gary Smith is returning to the drag racing world at Luskville Dragway in
2019, and is doing so with a blast. Gary who bought the former Mike Chenier Top
Sportsman Corvette, will run the car with help from Mike for the 2019 season,
and will travel as a team mate for this year. Gary is wasting no time in making
it clear he is here to play and he is here to win something he did do with his
former Super Pro Monza a number of years ago. Gary will run all the points
series we are involved in and will also put his name on the list for this years
Big Dog Shootout August 2nd. The return of Gary Smith and the addition of Carl
Soucy along with the return of Dave Rennie last year gives the Super Pro Class
at Luskville Dragway a big boost. And speaking of Dave Rennie who was voted
Super Pro Rookie of the year in 2018, he too has thrown his name into the hat
for the Busters Big Dog Shoot Out at this years Bracket Bonanza. Dave and Pam
where such a joy to have back racing with us in 2018 now have a year under their
belts and let me say it now, they will be a tuff entree in 2019, look for a trip
to the winners circle sooner than later.

ELLIOTT LAKE
IS
THE PERFECT RACE AND THIS YEAR, A PERFECT LIGHT PAYS $5000. MAR 25/19
With our drivers meeting just around the corner
(April 6th) it means that drag racing season is also approaching fast, and this
is going to be a very special year for Luskville Dragway and the Napa Event in
Elliott Lake. Yes Elliott Lake is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and
celebrating it in style. Super Pro competitors will run for $10,000 to win each
day, more show cars than ever before which includes Jet cars and Wheel Standers.
And something that has everyone's attention is the "Bonus Money" that is at
stake for Super Pro and Semi Pro drivers who cut a perfect light in
Eliminations.
The
folks at Elliott Lake have put up $5000. for someone or for a number of people
to win all or part of during Eliminations starting on Saturday. The amount you
win will depend on which round you cut the perfect light in, for example first
round win with perfect light gets $500. 2nd round win with perfect light gets
you $1000. and all the way to the finals where if you win with a perfect light
you get $5000. Once the total of $5000 is won the Bonus is over, so it can be
one with one run or a number of winning runs. This is a unheard of Bonus Package
and will begin with the first round on Saturday and continue through Sunday or
until the $5000 has been used up. |
LENTECH AUTOMATICS CONTINUES PARTNERSHIP WITH LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY IN 2019:
MAR 25/19
Lentech
Automatics is no stranger to Luskville Dragway, Chris Nugteren the
owner of this well know performance transmission shop is
also no stranger to the NHRA Facility in Luskville Quebec, and we will have
the pleasure of seeing him even more this upcoming season. As a new era of
marketing partnerships with Luskville Dragway begins Chris wanted to make
sure that even though the shop is famous for its Ford Performance Trans,
they work on, and build any make or brand with the same qualifications and
results.

transmission technology available. Every product is fully tested and backed

anywhere. So if you need a high performance edge, you need a LENTECH…
We welcome Lentech back to Luskville Dragway and hope everyone will come out
and join in on their cruise night, with the race date being June 22ND. Lentech will return as the official title rights holder to the
Left lane
score board at Luskville Dragway as well a signage space they have had for
many years now. |

will be on in 2020, we where on a very big boat but the Symphony stood very tall
beside us, this SHIP is HUGE. Broadway shows, dozens of bands, casino, fine
dinning, more swimming pools and hot tubs than you can shake a stick at, and
more great food and drink than you can handle. Mike Code will be at the drivers
meeting to answer any questions anyone has on this incredible holiday with your
racing family.

*Something "Blowning" in the wind for this years

J&S COLLISION KEEPS THI NG'S

If you have ever seen any of the race cars that
Jamie & Sheila Tupper have ever owned, you will know what I mean when I say
they have nice stuff. If you have ever seen any of the work that comes out
of the J&S Collision shop in Tilsonburg, Ontario you will also
understand what I mean whe n
I say they do good stuff. Yes these are folks who believe cars need to look good

RUSS ADAMS WILL TRY AND DRAIN THE SWAMP OF ALL COMPETITION AUG 3RD.
MAR 19/04 Professional Plumber Russ Adams
grew up at Luskville Dragway much like my son did, watching drag racing
every weekend, and waiting for his chance to race. Russ Started out in the
family Duster, t hen drove for ADM Motorsports where he first got the taste
of driving a dragster. Since those days Russ has made his ride one of those
long skinny ones, and has done his fare share of winning in this type of
car. Fact is as we wrapped up last years final race Russ made his way to the
winners circle for a big dollar payout at Luskville Dragway. However Russ
will be the first to tell you, he really wants his name on the Busters Big
Dog Wally and will try and do that once again this season. Adding his name
to the list puts Russ in the draw for a drum of Alcohol that will be drawn
for from all who have prior committed to the event. Russ says he is going to
drain the swamp of all comers to take the win, come August 3rd. 2019. This
would be a great year to do so, as Luskville Dragway celebrates its 50th
year of being in existence. |
BITS
FROM THE PITS: MAR 11/19 *We would like
to announce that we are actively searching for a Title Rights Holder to the Semi
Pro Year long Championship at Luskville Dragway for the 2019 Season and
beyond. We have been very fortunate over that last long period of time to have
had a company that held that, and made it possible for us to pay the winner of
the Semi Pro Points Championship $1000. We have many ways of getting involved
and being the title rights to a Class is a very prestigious one, with plenty of
advertising. We want to Totally Thank Greg Whelan at TDL for his long time
support and fully understand his decision to change directions, THANK YOU. Lets
hope we can find a great company like TDL to replace the title rights position.
* Weather
did not look anything like drag racing weather when Brandon Barker, Steve
Parkhurst and Butch Douglas pulled out of Belleville and headed to South
Carolina this past week. This is the first race for the Big Dollar SFG Series,
which last years Napa Auto Parts Tour Champ is planning on running in its
entirety. The series which stretch's across the US from the South to the Midwest
attracts big numbers and is tuff racing to say the least. We all wish Brandon
and all the drivers from Canada who are taking part the very best of luck, and
bring home some of that American Cash. Racing at Luskville Dragway does not kick
into high gear until the long weekend in May.

AUTO TRIM
DESIGN "WRAPS" UP A DEAL WITH LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY AGAIN THIS SUMMER: MAR
11/19
Auto
Trim Des ign
is
located at 1506A Michael St. Ottawa, Ontario 613-769-1575. Mike Piecki the owner
of Auto Trim Design is definitely a car guy and is very much involved with
performance cars.
Mike is responsible for all the great signage you see at Luskville
Dragway, as well as a number of cars that carry a Auto
Trim Design full wrap,
like Ralph Coe's Wheel standing Dodge. Besides supporting Luskville Dragway the
Auto Trim Design can be seen as support on Terry Miron's
winning dragster
as well as Arnie Malcolm's gorgeous golf cart.
Auto Trim Design & Signs is also an
official distributor of WEST CAN Manufacturing Products; a contractor’s choice
for mobile storage solutions. Shelving is the starting point for all mobile work
vehicles.
The cool think about dealing with Mike is the fact that he loves cars, racing
and car shows and that shows in his work and his response to getting your stuff
done. Mike is also a music lover and can be found at Blues Fest each and every
summer as well, but lets face it fast cars and music have always gone together.
So once again this season we are proud to say that Auto Trim Design is the
official graphic supplier for Luskville Dragway,

BIG DOG
ORIGINAL WINNER ADDS HIS NAME TO THE DOOR CAR SIDE FOR AUG 3RD. MAR 11/04
If your are a regular visitor to Luskville
Dragway you will quickly recognize the 1964 Dodge Polara of Ralph Coe the
owner
of Trillium Pavemark. The Bib Cubic Inch West Carleton/Hinton Powered car is one
of the wildest wheel standers the super pro class has to offer at Luskville. The
car which is decked
out
in colors that where applied by this weeks advertiser announcement, Auto Trim
Design, is done in memory of Ralphs Dad, Eugene. But one thing the many may not
know is the fact that Ralph and this car where the winner of the very first
Busters Big Dog Shootout, a decade ago. Back in 2009 there was no split ladder,
the door cars ran the opened bodied cars right from the first round, and it was
tuff, but Ralph managed to pick up the very first Big Dog Win. So with the
addition to the list for this years Busters Big Dog Shootout of Ralph's "Color
Me Gone" Dodge we have not just another door car, but one that has WON this race
before. Ralph does not get to race as much as he would like to, do to his very
busy business Trillium Pavemark and also with tow young children who are very
much into sports. |
BITS
FROM THE PITS: MAR 4/19 *Ok March is here and
that means we are getting closer to the next Luskville Dragway event, and closer
to the opening of the track for its 50th. Year. This alone is a feat that some
never reach so lets hope it is a great season. With all the problems going on in
the Motorsports Industry we are happy that Luskville Dragway is not in any of
those situations yet, and lets hope it never is. So hopefully everyone will come
out on April 6th to make this years Drivers Meeting and membership drive the
biggest ever, this is a very very important year.
*We
are pleased to add a link too the BMW Club to our website thanks to Autovation
Inc. who
will have them out too the track this coming May. Over the years we have seen a
great deal of BMW cars make runs at Luskville so will nice to see a big bunch
all at once. Julie Lamoureux has been instrumental in putting this event
together which we say thank you. BMW Day at Luskville Dragway will be in
conjunction with one of Autovation Inc. cruises nights May 25th.
*Two
weeks ago we announced that former Luskville Dragway Super Pro Racer Gary Smith
was returning to the drag racing
wars at Luskville Dragway, and this week we can tell you he has bought a car, a
very good car. Gary has purchased Mike Chenier's Top Sportsman Corvette and will
begin the season behind the wheel of what many would call one of the nicest
pieces anywhere in that country. Gary made the deal with Mike prior to the
Busters Practice Tree Party, so made for some REAL good bench racing at the
competition. Gary coming back to our sport is a positive thing for the track, as
he is a great supporter and plans on continuing doing just that. Smith will run
the Luskville Dragway Series as well as the Napa Tour and the Bracket Super
Tour. He already has a motorhome so is in good shape that way. This return and
the return of Dave and Pam Rennie last year makes for some positive things
happening for Luskville Dragway in a time when our sport needs all the good
things it can get. Welcome Back Gary. |
DAVE RENNIE AUTOCARE JOINS THE LONG LIST OF LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY
SUPPORTERS: MAR 4/19 There
was plenty of excitement surrounding the return of Dave Rennie to the drag
racing wars in 2018, and for a good reason, having Dave and Pam back at the
track was more than anyone could have expected. Buying a race car, buying a trailer, completely
updating the car to fit his likes, painting it to reflect the car he had
when he quit drag racing over three decades ago, and the first year didn't end
when the season got underway. Half way through the season Dave and Pam bought a
Motorhome, a golf cart and a new and bigger trailer to make it more comfortable
to travel to the races. They were the
big story for Luskville in 2018 and have made our track a better place. Dave
and his wife Pam have also made it clear they want to do what they can
to help the track move forward as well in the new racing season. So with that in mind it is with
great pleasure we announce that Dave Rennie Autocare is the latest MAJOR
Advertiser to resign a marketing partnership with Luskville Dragway. Dave
Rennie Autocare will hold the title rights to what was a new race on the 2018
Schedule, and will continue IN the 2019 schedule, the Bracket Bonanza Warm Up Race Saturday July 28th. This means
that Super Pro and Semi Pro will running for guaranteed payouts making it so
they can win enough money to pay for their Bracket Bonanza weekend in style. |
JAMIE CLARMO
HOPES NEW CAR, BEATS UP ON THE DOGS, IN THE SHOOTOUT: MAR 05/19
The
off season was all semi pro to begin with, but the super pro guys and gals are
starting to stir the pot as we get closer to the drivers meeting. A couple of
new car news over the past little while, with Gary Smith returning to drag
racing, and a friend of Mike Chenier's, Carl Soucy, buying a turnkey Super Pro
Dragster for 2019 just to name some so far. And of course there was the big move
with Jamie Clarmo buying Paolo Giust Racetech Dragster a pretty go step up
for Jamie, who has won his fare share of races over the years. Jamie who owns
Clarmo Auto Repair one of our advertisers has been a regular at Luskville for
many years, and says he hopes the new car makes him that much more competitive,
which is bad news for the other racers. So with that in mind Jamie made if very
clear he was IN the Busters Big Dog Shootout and will be gunning for a win on
August 3rd 2019. Hope everyone is making plans to be part of what is sure to be
a big part of our 50th Year of being Luskville Dragway. |
BIG DOG
DRAGSTER SIDE GOES ALL IN WITH QUAD ACES, AS OGILVIE MOTORSPORT'S SIGNS UP: MAR
5/19
We have
been talking pretty much lately about the door cars that have signed up for
the Busters Big Dog
Shootout on August 4th of this years Bracket Bonanza.
In fact they have been keeping pace with the dragsters as we get racer after
racer signing up for the High Roller portion of this years Bracket Bonanza.
Well this week see's the dragster side take a big lead as the Ogilvie
Motorsports all dragster team goes all in, committing all four drivers to
the race. This is one of the largest race teams that competes at Luskville
Dragway and the Napa Tour, and all four are more than capable of winning
what many think is the most prestigious races on the yearly calendar. Mike
Ogilvie who drivers the blown big block Dodge powered Mullis Car is coming
off what is probably his best season ever in 2017. Mikes Wife Vicki who only
has a few years under her belt has shown over and over she is ready for that
big win in her Diamond Built dragster. Rachel Ogilvie who like her younger
sister Ashley, both who are in big cars now where terror's in the Jr.
Dragster ranks and both are just a blink away from the winners circle in the
big cars. Rachel will enter the field in her brightly colored Mullis Car
while Ashley who is in her sophomore season will come too the table with her
Undercover car. This is definitely a family that races together and against
each other many times during the season, and all four are capable of winning
the Busters Big Dog Shootout.
